Have you ever wondered why hand-picked leadership teams still make poor decisions as a collective? Two or more capable leaders who can individually make exceptional business decisions sometimes just cannot decide together and produce less than what they would have done alone. The question thus far has been whether someone can do the work, but perhaps it is time to also figure out whether people can decide together.

Behavioral variables
The Deliberation is a structured behavioral instrument that surfaces an individual's capacity for compatibility. Participants work through ten collective decision rounds as members of a public planning commission under shared uncertainty.

The result is an individual compatibility profile grounded in observed behavior. There is no self reporting or personality profiling. It is a behavioral record of how this specific person functions in the conditions that senior leadership more often than not demands.

The Deliberation draws from four established research traditions: group process and team behavior research, assessment center methodology, top management team process research, and small group organizational behavior research. The foundations of the instrument are not novel. What is novel is the product form — a portable, facilitated instrument that makes live collective decision-making behavior observable, codeable, and reportable in under an hour.
Core Usage AreasAnywhere the real risk is not competence but compatibility. The focus is on whether people can form decisions together without structural misalignment undermining the work.
Early Access
The Deliberation is currently in playtesting. I am looking for senior leaders, HR professionals, and organizational development practitioners who want early access to the instrument.
Sessions run for approximately one hour over Google Meet. Participants receive an individual compatibility report following the session. There is no cost to participate.

Murai Systems is an independent behavioral design studio. I build at the intersection of serious game design and behavioral science. These are not adjacent disciplines, but form the crux of a single integrated practice.
The studio operates on the conviction that games are the most honest environment for behavioral observation. Not because they are artificial, but because the conditions they create are genuine. True behavior surfaces when the stakes within the game are real. That is the foundation everything I build stands on.
The Deliberation is the studio's flagship instrument. It is a deconstructed game and the clearest expression of what I hope to deliver with Murai Systems.
